race, vh1, dating showVH1 will begin production on the first interracial dating show, airing in the fall of 2008, says EURweb.com. Now, if you watch far too much television (like us), you’ll probably say, What about Flavor of Love? Girls of every race, creed, and color fawn over Flav one season after the next.

This, however, is the first program dedicated to finding a Caucasian man his dream wife: an African American woman. Translation: This is the first of these reality dating shows to select contestants based on, first and foremost, race. Said white man, Tobias White, says he’s always “dated black women. It just seemed a better for me.”

White’s ideal woman will not only be looking for a husband, but a few step sons. His two teenage boys will be employed on the show to “help him find his queen.”

I think it’s safe to say VH1’s interracial dating show isn’t as much about breaking down barriers as it is about VH1 finding a replacement for the bafoonery of Flavor of Love. One of the other guys on Highbrid Nation wrote a nice post talking about what the show means in terms of race relations. I’ll likely be tuning in just to see what all the fuss is about.

Meagan Good is absolutely drop dead gorgeous, but the only reason she probably won’t be that famous is because she allows herself to be typecasted into certain roles. I mean, she was in 50 Cent’s “21 Questions” music video, you know? Beautiful black (new) actresses like Paula Patton are generally careful about letting the media form expectations.

Awwww, it’s too bad it’s not true. As a black woman who has always dated white men, it would’ve been nice to watch and feel the appreciation coming back our way! Especially since the mainstream media does such a great job of making us feel shit about ourselves. Has no one noticed that Meagan Good is JUST as hot as Megan Fox? But she will never make it as big, because she is not white.

Oh man, I hope it’s true because I totally want to watch this. I think it’s cool when people break the stereotype of what’s expected and then brazenly broadcast it.

I work in VH1’s communications department, and this simply isn’t true. We are not picking up this series on interracial dating.
