Couple Must Prove Bliss

According to AFP, Jeff Dotts and Erin Albers of Nashville, Tennessee, were one of four couples (and the only Americans) who brought home the bacon this weekend—literally. A bizarre ritual, dating back to the 12th century, in which the couple who can prove to a mock-court that they have the happiest marriage took place in England over the weekend. The prize? A flitch, or a half a pig.

The Dunmow Flitch Trials, which are held every four years in Essex, feature a judge and jury who hear each couple tell the story of their marriage, including how they met and the proposal.

Dotts told BBC radio: “The story was just too much for us to pass up. What better way for you to express your love for your wife than by trying to win bacon?” Got that right.
