Simpson-Romo Engagement Rumor Take 10

It turns out that this Jessica Simpson lady is damned persistent. Per The Superficial, she would really like to get married to and have babies with Tony Romo. Word on the street is that the 2 were spotted checking out some Shiny McShine at Neiman Marcus (We call it “Needless Markup.” Get it? It’s expensive!)

Evidently, most people see engagement ring shopping as a clear sign that an engagement is imminent. That’s solid logic but the Romo-Simpson affair has been known to completely defy logic from time to time. From the weirdness of them dating in general to the pink Romo jersey to her hospitalization for excessive boozing to their ill-advised trip to Mexico during the playoffs to their bizarre breakup and reconciliation in and around Ashlee’s shotgun wedding, it has been a weird year and change. Just shopping for (or even buying) a diamond ring doesn’t mean that a winter wedding is a sure thing. Honestly, we wouldn’t put anything into the ’sure thing’ column with these guys until both literally say ‘I do.’

And not to put too much emphasis on ‘the other stuff’ but Dallas lost a home game to the Redskins last weekend. Dallas fans will not allow this season to get submarined just because Pretty Tony found himself a girl. Some Cowboys blogs say that the prettiest lady Romo should be thinking about is Terrell Owens and the only jewelry pickup on the horizon should be a Super Bowl ring. The “or else” was implied, but not really an ultimatum. “Or else” what, Tex? The Super Bowl ring then wedding ring scheme did work for Eli Manning.

And furthermore, celebrities don’t usually buy engagement rings at department stores, even needlessly marked up ones. They go to places like Harry Winston, Cartier, Christies, Tiffany (maybe), and Belgium. Now we have no doubt that these goofballs would buy an engaged to be engaged (promise) ring from Barney’s, Neiman Marcus, Sax, Gimbels, et cetera.
